Sylentis Receives Award to Best Business Plan |
|
Sylentis, a biotech company belonging to the Zeltia Group, has received recognition from "Madrid+d" to the Scientific-Technology based Best Business Plan, for being the first Spanish company and the second in Europe to research gene silencing (RNAi), a technology capable of disconnecting genes and that could be used as a complement to the development of conventional medicaments. The "Madrid+d" system is a network which involves public and private research institutions with the industrial sector to enhance Madrid's competitiveness. The ceremony was celebrated in the Casa de América and the award was collected by Sylentis director Eduardo Gómez-Acebo. The most advanced compound developed by Sylentis is for glaucoma treatment, and is about to begin clinical development. The company is also completing efficacy studies in animal models for the treatment of dry eye syndrome and Crohn's disease. |
